Privacy notice
Last updated 3 July 2026
We are Silk & Knot Events, a wedding and event planning studio in Abuja, Nigeria. This notice explains what we do with the little you share when you get in touch with us. We ask for only what we need to answer you well, and we hold it in confidence. There is nothing to buy on this site, no account to open, and no login. Just a way to begin a conversation with us.
Who we are, and how to reach us

What we collect
There are two parts to this: what you choose to tell us, and a little that is gathered automatically as you browse.
- What you tell us through Begin: your name or names; your email address; the kind of celebration you are planning (a wedding, a milestone birthday, an anniversary, a corporate event, or something else) and, for a wedding, which ceremonies; an approximate date, a date range, or that dates are flexible; where it will be held, given as one or more states or countries; an approximate guest-count band; an approximate budget band, or that you prefer not to say; how you heard of us, and optionally who referred you or which celebration you attended; and an optional note in your own words. You choose what to fill in. We never ask for, and never collect, any payment or financial-account details.
- What is collected automatically as you browse: your IP address is used only for a moment, to rate-limit the enquiry form so it is not abused by spam; it is not kept as part of your enquiry. Our host, Vercel, keeps standard server access logs. We also use Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights, a cookieless way of counting page views and measuring page speed in aggregate, with no personal profile and no tracking of you across other sites. We rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the site working and safe from abuse for these limited, automatic uses.
- What we do not use: we do not use advertising cookies, marketing trackers, social pixels, or third-party analytics like Google Analytics. Our fonts are served from our own site, so your visit is not shared with an outside font service.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
We use what you send us for one purpose: to reply to you, and to begin planning your celebration if we go forward together. The small amount gathered automatically keeps the site working and safe from abuse.
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, we rely on your consent when you choose to send us an enquiry, and on the need to take the steps you have asked us to take before we begin working together. For the small amount gathered automatically to keep the site working and safe, our basis is our legitimate interest. You can withdraw your consent at any time by writing to us. Withdrawing your consent stops us using your enquiry, though it does not affect the limited, automatic measures needed to keep the site running.
Who we share it with
We keep your circle small. A few trusted services help us run the studio and the site, and they act only on our instructions:
- Resend delivers your enquiry to our email inbox.
- Vercel hosts the website, keeps the standard server logs, and provides our cookieless analytics and performance measurement.
- Upstash, where configured, helps with the rate-limiting that protects the form.
Never for sale, never for advertising
We do not sell your information. Not ever, to anyone. We never share it for advertising or marketing by others.
Apart from the trusted services listed above who help us run the studio and the site, the only time we would ever share it is if the law required us to, for example a valid order from a court or a regulator.
What you share stays with us
Planning a celebration brings us close to private things: family, faith, budgets, the shape of your day. We treat all of it as confidential. It stays with us and the trusted services above, and it goes no further.
We love to show the celebrations we have been part of, but we share a wedding or an event publicly only with your blessing, never without it.
How long we keep it
Your enquiry reaches us as an email and lives in our inbox. We keep enquiries only as long as we need them. If an enquiry does not lead to working together, we keep it long enough to reply and follow up, and we clear it from our inbox when it is no longer needed. If you become a client, we keep what is needed for as long as we are working together, and for a reasonable time afterwards, so we can care for you properly. We do not keep a fixed timetable.
You can ask us to delete your information at any time, and we will remove it from our inbox.
Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, you have the right:
- to be informed about how your data is used;
- to access the data we hold about you;
- to have it corrected if it is wrong;
- to have it deleted;
- to object to, or restrict, how we use it;
- to have a copy of your data sent to you or to another service; and
- to withdraw your consent at any time.
How to exercise your rights, and how to complain
To use any of these rights, simply email us at privacy@silkandknotevents.com. We will get back to you as soon as we can, and within any period the law sets.
If you feel we have not handled your data properly, you also have the right to complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), the body that oversees data protection in Nigeria. You can reach the NDPC at its website, ndpc.gov.ng, or by writing to its office in Abuja. We would always hope you would come to us first, so we can put things right.
Children
This site is meant for adults arranging a celebration. The person filling in the Begin form is an adult, and we do not knowingly collect information from children through the site.
Some celebrations honour a child, a first birthday or a christening, for instance. Even then, it is the adult planning the day who enquires and gives us the details, not the child.
Handling data across borders
Many of the people we serve live in the diaspora, so an enquiry may reach us from outside Nigeria.
Some of the services we rely on, such as Resend, Vercel and Upstash, may store or process data on servers outside Nigeria. Where that happens, we rely on your consent in sending us your enquiry, and on the contractual terms and safeguards these providers apply to protect data they handle across borders, so that your information is kept to a standard comparable to Nigerian law. If you would like to know more about how any particular transfer is handled, please write to us.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice from time to time, as our tools or the law change. When we do, we will change the date shown at the top, so it is always worth a quick look at the date to see the current version.
A word before you go
If anything here is unclear, or you simply want to ask how we look after what you share, please write to us at privacy@silkandknotevents.com. We are always happy to hear from you.
